Feud between Joe Perry and Steven Tyler
Is it just media hype?
In September, 2009, Steven Tyler unexpectedly jumps up on the stage during  Joe Perry Project performance.  Perry's singer was a German fellow by the name of Hagan. Hagan was on stage when Tyler appeared. Tyler was angry with Perry at the time. He made some sarcastic remarks, ignored Hagan, and told Perry he was going to sing Walk This Way. Watch the drama............

Same event: Different angle, better sound

Later, Joe was interviewed (below) about the incident. I don't think Perry is as angry with Tyler as Tyler is with him. I think Tyler is still pissed off about the fact that when he fell off the stage August, 2009 in Sturgis, North Dakota, broke his shoulder and injured his head and was in the hospital 27 weeks, no one in the band came to see him. Why this happened, I don't know at this point, but I intend to find out and post it here

Aerosmith Returns to the Stage This Fall
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Legends Bring Their Unforgettable Live Show To Latin America

Aerosmith 2011 South America TourAmerica’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band, Aerosmith, will bring their one of a kind live show to Latin America this fall. The tour kicks off October 22nd in Lima, Peru. Presale tickets will go on sale May 24th and 25th for the fan club. General tickets will go on sale May 26th. The band first played in Latin America in 1977 and last year’s electrifying tour through South America left fans begging for more.

Frontman Steven Tyler says of the upcoming tour, “I'm looking forward to sweating up a storm with the crazy Latin American fans."

"The band is so excited to play for our Latin American fans. We didn’t think we would be back so soon. Every gig we play there is always a special one,” says guitarist Joe Perry of their return.

"We had a fantastic time when we toured South America in 2010 and are looking forward to seeing our amazing and passionate fans across Latin America when we return later this year," adds bassist Tom Hamilton.

Rock icons for over 30 years, Aerosmith’s music spans generations while its members remain as dynamic and innovative as they were when the band first began. As four time Grammy winners, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees (2001), recipients of 12 MTV Music Video Awards, and countless other awards, Aerosmith shows no sign of slowing down performing memorable sold out shows around the world for decades as well as selling over 150 million albums. Blazing past the trends and fads of rock and roll, the band has created their own unique place in rock history as one of the most powerful forces in popular music.

Johnnie Depp and Steven Tyler may collaborate on songwriting

FilmMagic / Getty Images
Johnny Depp has always enjoyed working on some odd projects, but his latest endeavor may be his strangest yet -- working on songs with 'Idol' judge and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

"We've been hanging out here and there," Depp told Extra (via MSN). "He's someone I've admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true."

The pairing isn't totally out of left field. The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor's roots in rock 'n' roll go back to early 1993, when Depp joined Butthole Surfers frontman Gibby Haynes to form the band P. He has since performed with the Kids and Brit band Babybird.

According to the Boston Herald, Depp recently announced that he would like to play the enigmatic lead character of Aerosmith in a biopic. "I would give it a shot, why not?" Check out Depp rocking out -- cigarette in his hand -- while playing the bass below

Tal Wilkenfeld took up guitar at 14 in her native Sydney, before switching over to the electric bass just three years later. “I’ve always just picked up any instrument and been able to play it," she said.  Only 24 yrs old, she is playing her awesome Bass solo (below) in Cause We've Ended As Lovers with Jeff Beck' s band at Ronnie 's Scott in 2007. Her presence was especially remarkable considering how often Beck has chosen to play in a trio format (with drummer Terry Bozzio and keyboardist Tony Hymas) in recent years, eschewing a bass player altogether.

Actors/Directors

Great interview with Jennifer Lopez  June 29, 2011

  Ray Kay: Video Director

One of the hottest music video directors working today, Ray Kay's love of music combined with a strong sense of fashion has led to a trademark style that has earned him numerous video award nominations. He enjoys bringing an innovative European approach to his videos, making them beautiful, believable and full of personality.

His distinct colorful cinematic style is now a staple of MTV and BET for such artists as Beyonce, Cassie, Nick Lachey, Brittany Speres, Enrique Inglesias, Adele, Monica and Trick Daddy. Born in Norway, Ray is now based in Los Angeles and is also a successful fashion photographer. Recently he directed and filmed Steven Tyler's new solo video: Feels So Good.

Director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp collaborate again

Walt Disney Studios has just released the movie Alice in Wonderland, pairing director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp. These two are a wonderful combination in the making of unusual and "far out" movies. They work well together and have teamed up more than once in the past.

It appears that both Burton and Depp have a penchant for the exaggerated, perverse, and bizarre. Their first film together was Edward Scissorhands (1990), a strange tale about a shy young man created by an inventor who, upon dying suddenly, left him with scissors for hands. The film documents what it feels like to live your life being different from everyone around you.

Other films combining the talents of these two creative geniuses include Ed Wood (1994), Sleepy Hollow, (1999), Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (2005), and Sweeny Todd (2007). Together they have turned out one unconventional flick after the other. Both men are brilliant, unique, and apparently obsessed with off-the-wall, somewhat nightmarish and warped drama, which includes an element of humor and tenderness.

A fascination with the dark and perverse

Tim Burton has made twenty five films since 1982. During that time, he has managed to stay just within the mainstream of Hollywood, although his films do not reflect that. On the contrary, he has remained true to himself and to his particular film and artistic choices, with a strong personal vision and a distinct uncompromising style. A past creator of horror films, his work although visually amazing and innovative, contains strong dark overtones. Yet, for some reason, he remains connected to the commercial Hollywood tradition; a contradiction to say the least.

A meeting of two brilliant and talented minds

Burton met his partner, actress Helena Bonham Carter in 2002 when the two of them worked on his film Planet of The Apes. They have been together ever since and now have two small children. Carter, an award winning actress, is a seasoned artist in her own right, with many films under her belt. Her first film was "Lady Jane Grey", in which she played the 16 year old queen to Henry the Eighth. Next she starred in "Room With A View" when she was barely twenty years old, for which she received an Academy Award nomination.

She has been making films well over 20 years and her career has seen her tackle every kind of role from the suicidal queen Ophelia in Hamlet, to a romantic heroine in Howard's End (1992) to a neurotic misfit in Fight Club (1999) to the helpful wife of a maniac butcher in Sweeney Todd (2007). And now in the new film Alice in Wonderland, to be released in 2010, she is playing the Red Queen.

At the age of 43, Bonham Carter pretty much concentrates on working with her partner, Burton, on his particular genre of films, which are brilliantly innovative and exciting visually and truly unique in every other way. She is fond of saying "I hate this image of me as a prim Edwardian. I want to shock everyone." And so, this team of Burton and Bonham Carter continues to amaze, frighten, and shock us with a continuous output of creative, entertaining, and visually stimulating images.

On The Spot: New TV Show

I came across a new TV show that really piqued my interest. The show is a concept developed by Johnny Wright. Born August 17, 1960 in Hyannis, Massachusetts,Johnny Wright is an American music manager. He has managed groups including New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, the Jonas Brothers, Menudo, and solo acts such as Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Stevie Brock, and Ciara.

In 2011, Wright partnered with AT&T, and AOL's music platform, Cambio, to create a new web-reality show series called On the Spot Johnny Wright's Quest to Form the Next Supergroup.

"On the Spot" is the largest global online and interactive talent search to form the next Supergroup. Participants from around the world have the opportunity to audition for Johnny Wright by way of video upload submissions. Powered by AT&T's wireless products and services, Johnny will be connecting with the participants and audience in groundbreaking fashion. Johnny and his team of experts will narrow down the auditions to just 20 participants.

Then, from his high tech headquarters, Johnny will put these top 20 finalists to the test, utilizing the power of the internet and the AT&T network to orchestrate a series of challenges that test each contestant’s artistic prowess, business savvy, and passion. The most impressive performers will be flown to LA to participate in Johnny’s famous “Boot Camp”, an intense workshop of rehearsals, dance choreography, vocal lessons, and media training. Even eliminated participants who are active viewers may have the chance to impress Johnny and reenter the competition. See how the show works below:

American Idol
Down to the Final two

5-19-2011

Not really the way I wanted it to turn out. My favorite, Haley Reinhart, was voted off last night. There are only two left, Scotty, the country western singer and Lauren Alaina, a 16 year country-soft rock-pop singer. Both are good but do not have the maturity and performance style that Haley has. They will compete for the title American Idol next Tues and Wed nights.

5-18-2011

Last night, on American Idol, Haley fell as she was performing her first song. That didn't stop her from getting right back up and finishing the song like the trooper and soon to be super star she is. Other than her fall, her performance was entertaining and flawless. She took on a difficult Led Zeppelin song and was accompanied by her father on bass.  I absolutely love her and hope she wins. Out of the remaining three finalists, she is as or more talented, more mature, and more ready for a big career and future in show business.

Here's the video:

Weird hair
I've been watching Idol since the beginning of this season. Early on, I watched James Durbin audition for the judges. At that time, he told them that he had Tourettes syndrome and Aspergers disease. This was quite a surprise to me as his singing was really good and he gave a spot on performance, impressing all the judges. Although he exhibited a few tics, he had no other symptoms which might get in the way of his performing. The only thing I thought was a little weird about him was his hair, which has changed somewhat since the stylists on American Idol have gotten a hold of him.
Tourette's Syndrome
According to Wikipedia,Tourettes is an inherited neuropsychiatric disorder with onset in childhood, characterized by multiple physical (motor) tics and at least one vocal (phonic) tic; these tics characteristically wax and wane. Tourette's is defined as part of a spectrum of tic disorders, which includes transient and chronic tics.
Genetic and environmental factors play a role in the etiology of Tourette's, but the exact causes are unknown. In most cases, medication is unnecessary. There is no effective medication for every case of tics, but there are medications and therapies that can help when their use is warranted. Explanation and reassurance alone are often sufficient treatment;[6] education is an important part of any treatment plan.
Asperger's Disease
WebMD defines Aspergers asa type of pervasive development disorder. PDDs are a group of conditions that involve delays in the development of many basic skills, most notably the ability to socialize with others, to communicate, and to use imagination.
Although Asperger's syndrome is similar in some ways to autism -- another, more severe type of PDD -- there are some important differences. Children with Asperger's syndrome typically function better than do those with autism. In addition, children with Asperger's syndrome generally have normal intelligence and near-normal language development, although they may develop problems communicating as they get older.
Durbin's performances
As the weeks go by, Durbin has gotten better and better. He seems relaxed, at ease, and perfectly able to handle the big stage and huge audiences. How's that for overcoming your handicap? All the judges love him and are very encouraging, especially Steven Tyler. Durbin is a rock singer and has a similar approach to Tyler on stage. He does a lot of controlled screaming and moving around.
"I think sometimes it takes a little bit of being crazy to make a difference in this world. And that's what you're all about." said Steven Tyler...who better than crazy rocker Steven Tyler to make such a statement?
Check out Durbin's last night performance (link below) and you'll see what we mean. He's amazing.

Haley Reinhart
Last night, another contestant was voted off. I watched it the night before and cast my votes for James and Haley. Of the two girls left, Hayley and Lauren, I really think Haley is far the most interesting and will make a better super star. She sounds a lot like Janis Joplin, husky, raspy but smoother. The recording industry doesn't have anyone like that now so, even though Lauren is good, she is another country singer and we've got plenty of those. Also, she's very young, 16 years old, so I think she's got plenty of time to get her career going.

Scotty, James & Jacob
As far as the boys go, since Jacob was voted off, only James and Scotty are left. Again, although Scotty is really a good singer and performer, he's strictly country and I think he'll have a career there even if he doesn't win. Of the two I am of the opinion that James is the better choice. We'll just have to wait and see what America thinks.

Casey Abrams

Casey  was one of my very favorite performers on Idol. I was really mad he was voted off. He was so talented, unique, and a little quirky besides being an excellant musician.  I think he would have made a great recording artist. The above video shows him singing his last song the night he was voted off.

James Durbin

James was my very favorite contestant. A talented rock singer, he had a terrific voice and always gave great performances but America voted him off last week. much to my chagrin. I was sort of hoping he would win. There are three contestants left: Scotty, Haley, and Lauren Alaina. I'm hoping Haley will win.

And then there were three
